Personal Statement:
I worked for many years as a medical social worker at an Alzheimer's research center. As I became more involved with clinical research, worked with many MSW field interns, and began teaching adjunct at a local university, an interest in doctoral studies was spawned. Together these positive experiences led me towards an academic career. Being a professor permits me to combine this background and my interests towards teaching students the skills needed for social work practice. I also believe that my years of practice are helping me to be a better researcher into the real, day-to-day issues and concerns affecting our clients.
