M.S.W. Course of Study
A minimum of 63 semester credit hours is required for the M.S.W. degree. All students are required to complete the 15 credit hour foundation semester plus 48 credit hours in the student's chosen concentration (track) and electives.
Students are admitted into full-time or flex option enrollment status. After the foundation semester in the Fall, GCSW students choose either Clinical Practice (CP), or Leadership, Administration & Advocacy (LAA) for their track. Students will take three courses in their chosen track and one cross-over track course. Optional certificates are available in Gerontological Social Work, Political Social Work, and Trabajo Social. Certificates do not require additional hours, but are earned by completing 9 credit hours in the chosen certificate area.
The degree program is flexible after the first semester and can be completed in a variety of ways within a four year time frame. Examples of enrollment models are shown below.

Enrollment and Scheduling Notes:
- A minimum of 63 credit hours is required for the M.S.W.
- The program cannot be completed totally in the evening or weekends.
- Changing from one enrollment plan to another requires prior approval from the advisor;
- The M.S.W. degree requires a total of 900 clock hours in field practicum courses.
